Affordable Renewable Energy with ourSolar

Have barriers to solar power kept you from getting renewable energy for your home or business? Since 2016, Tri-County EMC’s cooperative solar program, ourSolar, has offered members the opportunity to purchase blocks from the cooperative’s 10-acre solar site in Putnam County. ourSolar gives members access to affordable solar energy with no risks and no rooftop installation required. The sun energizes Tri-County’s panels, and that energy is used on the cooperative’s system.
At $20 a month for each 1.22 kW block, ourSolar participants receive all the energy generated by each block credited against the normal usage on that month’s electric bill. Each block should generate approximately 160 to 250 kWh per month. Members are limited to 4 blocks per account. (1952003)
Participating in the cooperative solar program has several advantages. With ourSolar, there are no installation or maintenance costs. Tri-County’s solar site has over 4,200 solar panels capable of generating over 2 million kWh annually. The cooperative maintains the facility at no extra cost to its members. Unlike rooftop solar panels, there is no financing or long-term contracts. Members can end their participation at any time but must wait twelve months to rejoin.
As your trusted energy advisor, Tri-County EMC is here to help you make smart energy investments. If you are interested in solar generation, call and speak with a Tri-County EMC representative to better understand your electricity usage and make the best energy decision for your home.
