Cooperatives Helping Cooperatives

Decorative ImageAs a cooperative, Tri-County EMC is founded on 7 Cooperative Principles. A crew of our linemen put one of those principles, Cooperation Among Cooperatives, to use last month as they travelled to Carroll EMC, headquartered in Carrollton, GA, to assist in power restoration after Winter Storm Benji dropped up to 10 inches of snow in the area. The storm caused nearly 30,000 outages in the Carroll EMC service area - significantly more than the 19,000 outages brought to Tri-County EMC’s service area during Hurricane Irma.

Carroll EMC was one of the many EMCs that came to our aid during Hurricane Irma Restoration and we were glad to be able to return the favor to them just a few months later.

“That’s what’s great about cooperatives,” said Keith Brooks, vp of operations at Tri-County EMC. “Co-ops jump at the chance to help other cooperatives in need. And we are fortunate to have a strong network of EMC linemen across Georgia and the U.S.. In times of need, we all work together as a team.”
